The Charlie Mike Solutions Basic Winter Survival Course is designed for clients who want to improve their back country survival skills during cold weather. We utilize an adult teaching model to maximize skill set comprehension and long term retention. Additionally, the course allows you to try new tools, equipment or foods and draw your own conclusions about which one work best for you. This hands-on approach to learning will allow you to make more educated decisions and give you more experiences to draw from. This technique supports learning in new survivalists and strengthens skills in more experienced survivalists.
The skill sets for this course will center around the “Lost hiker” scenario or the deliberate bugout scenario in which the survivor would have his/her backpack with him/her. Many of the areas explored will be applicable not only to survival, but to any outdoor situation such as hunting, hiking, camping or getting stranded unexpectedly. The course will focus on four primary skill sets as well as numerous additional skill sets. The primary skill sets are: Shelter construction, water procurement & purification, signaling and fire building. The secondary skill sets include: the survival mentality, emergency signaling, cold weather and back country first aid, survival kit/1st aid kit construction, hunting, small game preparation, backcountry cooking, proper tool selection/use and much more!
There are no lodging costs for this course because we will be in the woods for all three days!
The next class is scheduled for January 2018. It will be held at the Charlie Mike Solutions Training Facility in Branchland, WV, near Beech Fork State Park.
