The Children's Survival Course is designed for children ages 7-17. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The course is designed as a safe environment to give children the confidence to perform basic outdoor skills. The skills will include knife, saw and hatchet safety, fire construction & safety, water purification, cooking on an open fire, first aid for minor injuries, constructing a survival shelter, emergency signaling and survival kit construction.
This two day course includes one night in the woods, sleeping in the shelter that you will build. However, based on parental guidance, you may choose to use the classroom shelter. The course is designed to be fun and low stress, and allow the kids lots of time to practice the skills and enjoy the outdoors. We will have a campfire with hot dogs and marshmallows at night. Also, the kids will receive a graduation certificate at the end of the course. This is a great opportunity for a unique bonding experience for you and your kids.
This course is conducted at the 72 acre Charlie Mike Solutions Training Facility, located in Branchland, WV. It's only a few minutes from Beech Fork State Park.
Class will be limited to 8 children to ensure that the kids get all the attention that they need.
This course is a different from our "Surviving with Children" 1 Day Clinic, although some of the same subjects are covered. However, that is a preparedness course for adults only.
