The Charlie Mike Solutions Military Advanced Land Navigation Course is designed for the military professional who is looking for a way to increase their dismounted land navigation skills or to help them prepare for an upcoming Selection event. This course is also suitable for the civilian or law enforcement professional who wants to improve their land navigation/orienteering skills. The Advanced Land Navigation Course is designed to reinforce the skills that you already have and add new skills, then present you with new, greater challenges. In this course you will navigate both day and night. The terrain is rugged and challenging and we conduct the training regardless of weather conditions.
During this course, you will learn a lot about back country dismounted navigation, but more importantly, you will learn something about yourself. You will learn if you can truly push yourself when you are facing difficulties, loneliness, rugged terrain and a relentless time limit. If you are getting ready for a selection event and you want to give yourself a pre-selection test run, come on up to West Virginia and let's see what you're made of. In this course, you will be treated like an adult. No one will be yelling at you. The West Virginia terrain will provide all of the stress necessary.
Charlie Mike will be the primary instructor for this course. He is a retired U.S. Army Green Beret (Special Forces) and graduate of the USASOC Advanced Land Navigation Course in West Virginia (1998).
Students will need to bring an orienteering compass (Such as the Silva Ranger or the Suunto USGS Mirror Compass) or you may purchase one at the course. If you are going to bring your own, please contact us ahead of time to ensure that your compass is appropriate for the course. You will be provided with all maps and additional training materials. Students will be provided with a packing list for the course.
If you are going to attend a different military Special Operations selection course, such as SFAS or MARSOC A&S, please see our Military Land Navigation Course (Pre-Selection). That course is slightly different from this one and is geared towards those personnel planning to attend those courses where they only use the military lensatic compass.
We typically run two classes a year, however, you can call to schedule your own class if you have three or more people to attend.
